A Mancat's work is never done...

It seems I am working round the clock at the moment as My Mummy and all the other humans here have gone down with a bad cold... My Mummy even says that it's more yucky than that dreadful and deadly disease "Man Flu" - so it's gotta be bad! :(

So I have been up and awake much of the night making sure that My Mummy had somekitty to snuggle with, while she turned from hot to cold and back again and Dad wheezed, coughed and gave off more radiant heat than a total nuclear meltdown on his side of the bed! Even D'boy is sick and whiny, so much so that even Tigmut'hep can't interest him in a game of toy cars or Lego...

I must say Isis is being a good little nurse kitty too, she now wants a cute little "candy stripe" uniform, though I've told her she can't have one until she still can resit putting the bitey on a moving toe under the covers! ;) Well it's most off putting to have your sick patient suddenly bolt upright and screaming, when you've just got them nice and settled and were starting to doze off too...

Finking Friday!

Well I've had lots to fink about this week... From how to keep My Mummy away from my infectious Dad, sadly this didn't work well enough and I've been left to nurse My Mummy now that Dad's fit for work again! Oh and I've gotta nurse d'boy too as he's sick too... :( Now iffen they'd got their shots at the vets like I did late last year, I'm sure they'd have been fine! ;)

I've also been finking about being related to famous movie star cats! Does this mean My Marie will desire me even more? Mmmm... I fink I might like finding out! ;)

Then I did some finking about being an Uncle this time next week, if not then, it won't be much longer! :) Isis has a really "Wide Load" now and it's funny watching her belly move on it's own... First there is a lump in one place, then it migrates! I've therefore been finking what it must feel like to have your very own belly "possessed", like in Torchwood the other week!

Finking of Torchwood, It would be nice if My Mummy would pay me more attention when watching it... I mean I'm much better looking than John Barrowman and I do come from movie star stock! ;)

Mancat Monday...

It seems Dad's home with manflu today... So I'z gotta compete for My Mummy's attention! Now come on Mummy, you can't zoom groom Dad, nor can you play "belly rub or bunny kick" with him... Not to mention the fact he's a walking bag of snot and contagion?! ;) I'z pretty sure his face is going to explode soon and that could be scary... Yes, that's right Mummy you want to spend your time with me, doing mancatly things like fussing me and telling me how wonderful I am! :) Oh and Mummy you can use that nasty pill giver thingy you use on us so we don't put the bitey on your fingers when being given pills, on Dad when you give him is cold and flu tabs - that way you don't have to get that close to him! After all I wouldn't want My Mummy getting sick, it'd mess with my routine for a start! ;)

Thursday's need for nursing...

It seems Dad's given the boy his germs and now My Mummy has him home in bed for the day! Again this means us kitties has access to the bedroom and the urge to snuggle up in bed is getting really hard to fight... Isis is grumping though as the boy has kept his slippers on to keep her off his feet for once! ;) Seems the boy is smarter than he looks...

Hopefully My Mummy won't get Dad's germs, 'cause if she gets sick we won't get the level of service we like around here! ;) Oh and she needs to make us our celebration jelly! :)

Here's the recipe for those of you who have Mom's who'd like to try it out:

Chicken and 'nip Celebration Jelly

1/2 lb (aprox.) of chicken meat (brown meat is actually best)
1 small carrot - adds vitamins as well as a bit of roughage (dietary fiber)
1 small handful of peas - adds vitamins and roughage too
1 packet of gelatine
Water
1 egg cup full of Cranberry Juice (added for Tigmut'hep's sake - it helps sufferers if FLUTD as it acidifies the meal somewhat)
1 small handful of fresh 'nip leaves

Cube the chicken and put it in a sauce pan, add the carrot and peas and cover with water - at least 1/2 pint (1 Cup). Bring to the boil and simmer for at least 1/2 hr - this makes the meat very tender and yummy! Now take 1/4 pint of the liquid and put it in a bowl and dissolve the gelatine in it, stir and make sure it's fully dissolved. Now take a few of the cubes of chicken and put them into two flat containers (preferably ones that have lids), the rest of the chicken, carrot and pea mixture should be liquidised with the rest of the fluid and add it to the gelatine mixture to make it up to about 1 pint (add extra water if needed) put the fresh 'nip and cranberry juice in now, and stir to make sure the 'nip, meat and gelatine combine evenly and pour over the cubes of chicken in the two containers. Now leave to cool for about 1 hr and then put the lids on the containers and carefully put in the fridge to set - about 1-2 hrs. Once this is set it's time to PARTY! :)

It's just so good! It really will take a lot of will power for us all not to start eating it the second it sets... Though well be good and save it for us all to share at the Party to mark the joint Gotcha Day's of Tigmut'hep, Donny, My Marie and me! :) Each of us found our furever homes in late November and thought it would make the Party extra special if we could all celebrate that fact! :)

Wonderful Wednesday!

It's me Isis! :) I've been busy keeping Dad warm in bed while he was feelin' all yucky and icky, seems he got cat flu or something nasty like that as he says his head feels like it wants to 'splode and his nose is certainly 'spoldin' lots! But he's been a good ickle sick kitten and let me look after him's properly... :) I'z done sitting on him to warm him up, while groomin' the little furs on the back of one of his hands all nicely! He must have liked that as he fell off to sleep and let me groom it for a good 30 mins, when I was done it looked lovely and pink and clean! :)

Then I followed him downstairs and watched TV with him, perched on the back of the sofa and purrin' in his ear as hard as I could to make him relax! This must have worked as he soon was up and about doing stuff for work on the computer, all wrapped in a blanket I made a nice nest on his feet and groomed the furs on his legs next! Honest I'z never groomed so hard in all my life and soon his ankles was looking mighty good and pink too! :) Mummy kept bringing him mugs of coffee, which like a good Momma cat I tested to make sure it was good and not too hot for my paw 'ickle sick kitten Dad...

I'z is going to be the bestest every kitten Momma, 'cause today Dad got outta bed and went back to his work! All my attention and nursing efforts must have worked real well... :) He's all fixed and better and told Mummy he was sure he'd feel better at work as he was sure he didn't need any more of my intensive nursing efforts! It's obvious from his comments that I'z done my job real good and I'll be just as good a kitten Momma as my big sister Noodle is! :)

When I'z bigger I'z going to be just like her and go and visit Dan (not for Napoleon's eyes) and come home with a belly full of kittens all my own! :) Mummy says I can play Momma cat and ickle baby kitten all I want then... I'z can clean 'em and feed 'em and snuggle with 'em 24/7 and they'z going to love it all and not complain like my big brother Ramses does about how humiliating it all is, specially when I start with the cute 'ickle baby talk to him! ;)

Anyway I've had enough time day dreamin' about kittens and now I need to go clean up any stray cat bikky those messy boys have dropped around our food bowls! Then I'd better check all the cat toys and make'z sure they'z good enough to play with, once that's all done I think I'll check out all the cat beds and other prime napping spots and make sure they'z good enough for guests! :) It's a busy life being the only girlycat in a house... Those lazy boys seem to need me to do everfury thing for them! ;)

The Sick Dad Tuesday...

Well it seems that the cold that's been going round Dad's office has finally got the better of him, so he's in bed feeling all horrid and icky at present... This does however mean I have access to the bed all day (My Mummy has a bad habit of locking me out, so I don't sleep all day...) and never one to let a good thing go to waste I've been making the most of it... :)

Though never fear I've had a good look at our food supplies for Saturday and other than Isis and Tigmut'hep deciding to give the ham an internal inspection to make sure it was up to standard all is doing well! :) The ham situation is now critical, though I am assured that what we did have was well up to standard... ;) We do however have 3 gammons in the fridge that I have managed to keep out of Tigmut'hep's stomach for now (though Isis is nearly as bad as him these days!), I hope that gammon will pass the meezer taste test and that I can keep this lot hidden for a few days longer... If not I'll just have to add a ham and gammon request to My Mummy's next shopping list! ;) I'm sure she won't suspect a thing...

Traumatic Tuesday!

Well what an utterly horrid start to Tuesday I've had! :( Saying it was traumatic is a total understatement...

It all started with Isis giving me her cold, but at the time neither Mummy or I suspected that I was coming down with anything... I know Isis likes to share everything with me, but honestly this is just taking it a bit too far! I had my dinner like a good cat and an hour or so later seemed to be trying to rid myself of a hairball the size of Chicago or the like, Mummy put this down to my munching on a bit of cat grass and I guess to start off she was right. The thing is once I'd got rid of the bit of green stuff I continued to try wommiting on and off, just bringing up a bit of drool like stuff and that was it. But it stopped and I settled and let Mummy and Dad go to bed and it wasn't until 3am that the real fun started and I repeated the wommiting attempts right close to Mummy's right ear to make sure she knew I needed her! It's surprising how fast a Mummy can wake and move from a deep sleep to upright and alert when she hears wommiting within an inch or so of her ear - if I wasn't feeling so retched at the time I'd have managed to be really impressed with her turn of speed! ;) By this time I was feeling revolting though and started to have a little trouble breathing, which Mummy picked up on real fast. First of all she called my normal vets only to find that the vet on call for the group was based in Northampton - nearly 40 mins drive from us here! :( But the vet on call did agree that I didn't sound like a healthy, happy cat and should be seen - though being both sensible and by the sounds of it tired she suggested Mummy see if any of the other local vets had closer emergency cover...

At this point I think Mummy was about to start pulling her lovely long sorrel head fur out, but suddenly thought of my Nana's dog Misty's vet. Although they're not exactly local they are brilliant and she knew the way to the big vet centre so could take me there without having to get all the family out of bed. So she tried their emergency number and Sally vet answered - she's long been Misty's favourite vet, so even though she's not my own lovely ladyvet I thought I'd be ok. Next came my being bundled into my carrier and into the car for a 15 min drive across part of rural Buckinghamshire out to Maids Morton - a lovely historic village I'm assured. I talked to Mummy the whole way telling her how dreadful I was feeling and she kept telling me how much she loves me and how I'd be all better once Sally vet had seen me...

So at last we arrived thanks to Mummy's trusty GPS as in the dark she was less sure of the way than she would be in the day time. Apparently all these twisty turny country roads look the same to her in the dark! Sally vet had left the practice door open for Mummy and me, so in we went and Sally vet greeted us just as if it was a normal daytime visit, which helped to calm Mummy down. She took my medical history from Mummy, which consisted of (up until last night) he's sickeningly healthy but has 2 missing tiny front teeth, one of which he left in a judges hand apparently! But that my sister was sick and currently sneezing and on auntybiotics after having seen a vet in our practice last week. Sally vet then examined me and told Mummy I was utterly gorgeous (she can examine me again if she keeps saying stuff like that Mummy!) She looked down my throat and listened to my chest, felt my glands and discovered that they were up just a little bit. Then came the undignified bit where they thermometer goes in the booty and yer eyes go all quiff! Sally vet told me that this was done because lots of cats and dogs get ear infections and this would effect the temperature reading, where as sticking it up the booty gives a more consistently accurate reading and I was to tall all my furriends that, so they'd stop moaning at her about it! I must say I felt better about the indignity of it all following her clam explanation and she got away without a single scratch or bite mark from me! ;) ......... You want to shove that where?!

It seems my temperature is normal, my glands are up a little and I've been trying to comfort Isis while her nose has been sploding, so what I have and what frightened both me and Mummy half silly is a cold related asthma attack! :( I'm to rest and Mummy is to put me in my carrier with her facial sauna on by the door and drape a towel over me and it, if I get bad again before she sees me tomorrow to make sure I'm getting better. Oh and she gave me an aunty-inflammatory rejection as well as an auntybiotic one to help my sore throat clam down, so that I stop having asthma attacks.

Mummy's made my appointment for tomorrow and even managed to get it after school so the boy can come with us, 'cause we're going to pick up Nana and Misty as they have an appointment there too in the time slot next to ours. Dad and the boy both helped Mummy this morning though as she'd had so little sleep being up looking after me and running me around. Dad got the boy up and off to school and let Mummy sleep on for a bit after taking her a cup of tea. A tired Mummy isn't a safe one here, so I think it was more a case of self-defence and preservation that made them do it... When Mummy doesn't sleep, she tends to burn things, especially food! ;) She might not be purrfect but she's a good Mummy and I think now is a good time to take Sally vets advice and have a nap! :)
